This presentation will help demonstrate how you can better embrace differences -- your own and those of others -- and appreciate how they contribute to medical excellence.

Learn about the general wellness resources provided, as well as how to find help for the challenge of being a medical student during the COVID-19 pandemic
Begin to develop coping mechanisms and help-seeking behaviors
Please meet outside Alumni Hall at 12pm. A BBQ lunch from GoodWood will be served after we walk together to the Fort Douglas Picnic Area. There will be sides that can accommodate dietary restrictions.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to: • Download Anki and appropriate add-ons • Understand the Anki algorithm • Learn what the buttons on the home screen and browser screen do • Make high-quality flashcards • Understand what community decks are available and how to use them with the U of U’s curriculum • Understand how to use Anki as a tool for both Step1 and class examinations • Understand how to use Anki with question banks • Navigate the AnKing YouTube channel and Anki subreddit pages to learn new skills beyond what we can teach during this session.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to put together a realistic, healthy meal plan that incorporates personal preferences and dietary restrictions. Participants will know what resources to turn to for recipes, ingredients, and information on healthy choices.
By the end of the session, students will be able to: - Describe where to find resources available to med student families - Anticipate some of the difficulties encountered by prior successful med students with families - Understand study strategies utilized by prior successful med students with families - Utilize effective time management skill strategies and understand the constraints on their time - Describe the importance of balancing personal wellness, family responsibilities, and school obligation - Contact current 4th year students with questions or concerns

The Big Sib Little Sib (BSLS) Program is excited to host our 2022 kick-off event at Sunnyside Park on August 8th at 6pm! This event will give those who signed up for the BSLS program a chance to meet their big sib in person as well as connect with other members of their class and the MS2 class. If you didn’t sign up for the BSLS program, we would still love to have you attend. We will be serving both pepperoni and cheese pizza. There will be a limited number of options available for dietary restrictions.

1. By the end of the session, students will be able to navigate finding shadowing opportunities in the first years of school, including writing an introduction email. 2. Students will be able to describe the differences between RUUTE and TRU. Students will be able to list the different opportunities for tribal, rural, and underserved care at the University and how to get connected with them.

By the end of the session students will be able to identify coping tools, and strategies to help maintain their overall wellbeing during this transition into medical school, and how to recognize when it would be necessary to identify and utilize resources for support for their wellbeing in year one. Dr. Lindsley will be leading your first Team-Based Learning (TBL) session. TBLs are interactive, group learning sessions that you will participate in regularly throughout your medical school curriculum. These sessions test your learning in the classroom and require being prepared ahead of time.
To prepare for this session, please complete the pre-work instructions listed on Canvas. During the session, you will complete both an individual and a group assessment based on the pre-work materials.
Transition to Medical School includes a Support your Support event. This session is for you, your families, partners, friends, and anyone you deem to be a part of your support network to ask Dr. Stevenson and other Deans questions about medical school life, wellness, medical student support, etc.
Menu Support your Support will be serving a light dinner of sandwiches, vegetable trays, and cookies. Dietary restrictions will be accommodated.
We will be serving refreshments directly after the White Coat Ceremony for students and guests. There will be a variety of options to choose from, which will accommodate dietary restrictions.
